The project begins in October 2021 and ends in September 2025. The first year will consist of deploying a methodology for monitoring the natural environment in order to draw up an accurate picture of the ecological state of the natural environment before the deployment of the LIFE RUBIES solution, then to monitor the impact of the deployment of LIFE RUBIES. The second year will consist in implementing a Real-Time Control (CTR) system based on the volumes rejected and the third year in deploying the CTR solution based on the quality of the rejections. The fourth year will assess the impact of the solution deployed on the natural environment.

Project preparation and planning
1
Setting up of LIFE RUBIES demonstration framework details for demonstration deployment scheduling, and result evaluation. Also, subactions per pilot to describe in detail the existing pilot infrastructure, to collect needed information and to set end-user requirements are also considered (Leader: LYRE Contributors: All partners) (M1-M5).
Consortium coordination and technical progress monitoring and reporting of the LIFE RUBIES project. Technical quality of the project will be ensured with the creation of an Advisory Board (AB) with technical experts. Leader: 3S; Contributors: All partners. (M1-M42).
Developments and deployments

Given LIFE EFFIDRAIN solutions were demonstrated using a Virtual Reality (Simulation Environment) and in LIFE RUBIES, they will be demonstrated in real pilots integrated into AQDV UD, this action is devoted to develop new methods to ensure no real life system failure so that the solution can handle existing complexities associated with real-time demonstrations. (Leader: CSIC; Contributors: LYRE, AQUATEC, 3S, CETAQUA) (M5-M12).
The software and communication architecture of the adapted AQDV UD environment (LIFE RUBIES solution) will be defined in detail for being implemented on the Spanish and French pilots. Action B1 resulting tools will be adapted so that they can be integrated in AQDV UD (Leader: 3S; Contributors: LYRE, AQUATEC, CETAQUA) (M10-16).
This action led by AQUATEC covers all the pilot activities associated with the Spanish pilot hosted by CYII and is segmented in several subactions: existing AQDV UD environment deployment (AQUATEC); instrumentation deployment (CYII); UDN and WWTP model development (AQUATEC); virtual test (AQUATEC); AQDV UD upgrade considering Action B1 and B2 resulting methods (AQUATEC); LIFE RUBIES real testing phase (CYII). Contributors: 3S, CETAQUA, CSIC (M6-M40).
This action led by 3S covers all the pilot activities associated with the French pilot hosted by MEL and is segmented in several subactions: existing AQDV UD environment deployment (3S); instrumentation deployment and data collection (MEL); UDN and WWTP model development (LYRE); virtual test (LYRE); upgrade of AQDV UD considering Action B1 and B2 resulting methods (3S); LIFE RUBIES real testing phase (MEL). (M6-M40).
Deployment and analysis of quality indicators monitored in the natural body. Interpretation of the data recovered through the pilot sites operation/demonstration will be carried out to assess LIFE RUBIES solution employed. A Cost- Benefit Analysis (CBA) is planned to compare the current strategies applied by the end-users (CYII and MEL) and the scenarios enabled by LIFE RUBIES solution. Leader: CETAQUA. Contributors: U-Lille, AQUATEC, CYII (M29-M40).
Start of its implementation for the industrialization and commercialization of the developed LIFE RUBIES solution (Leader: 3S; Contributors: AQUATEC) (M26-M42).
Assessment of the replication and transferability of the proposed LIFE RUBIES solution in other geographical and climate contexts, including the preparation of a technical guide on its application and performance to implement the technology in other EU sites (2 feasibility studies considered). Leader: 3S; Contributors: AQUATEC (M22-M40).

of the project on the environment as compared to the initial situation. Benefits analysis for the local economy and population. The project will quantify the socio-economic impact of LIFE RUBIES and monitor the LIFE Performance Indicators and other specific indicators. Leader: 3S; Contributors: All partners (M1-M42).

Exploitation results

This action (led by LyRE and supported by all partners) includes networking with other projects and implementation / execution of a dissemination plan. It includes exhibition and pilot inauguration events, two discussion sessions, two webinars with the target end-users, and two dissemination workshops (Fr and Sp). The project plans to count on active local and European platforms, i.e. Water Europe, ICT4Water cluster, Water Operator Associations (AGA, AEAS). (M1-M42).

After project

will guarantee the sustainability of the project outcomes beyond the project´s life. Apart from the continuation of the pilot site operation, the adoption of the business plan and the replication and transfer plan will continue after the end of the project (3S and AQUATEC). Dissemination activities will also go on after the project lifetime (All partners) (+5 years after the project end).
